George Shahda

Over 20 years of expertise in fine art photography, museum documentation, and professional architectural photography.

George Shahda was born in Damascus in 1984 and moves between Dubai and Amsterdam. He is an artist and technical photographer specializing in documenting and photographing art, antiquities, collectibles, and contemporary designs, in addition to architectural and fine art photography. Growing up in an artistic environment, photography became an integral part of his life from an early age. At the age of 15, he received his first professional digital camera, and from that moment on, photography was no longer just a hobby but a passion and profession he continuously strives to develop.
His professional journey began by photographing the artworks of his father and his father’s artist friends, alongside documenting various landmarks across Syria, from breathtaking natural landscapes to historically rich archaeological sites. He has documented numerous museum collections in different provinces and more than 350 archaeological sites in Syria, capturing over 5,000 images. In 2008, some of his works were selected to appear on several denominations of the Syrian currency, which remains in circulation today.

In 2010, he moved to Dubai and launched his first professional studio, working on photography projects for numerous global brands in luxury watches, jewelry, automobiles, and motorcycles. Through this experience, he gained extensive expertise in professional lighting techniques and studio photography, utilizing high-end equipment from Broncolor (Switzerland) and Hasselblad cameras (Sweden), which enhanced his ability to showcase the finest details with the highest quality possible.
Beyond studio photography, he developed a deep passion for architectural photography, using state-of-the-art equipment in the field. He documented many of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks, including Dubai Opera, Etihad Museum, and Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, as well as prestigious hotels such as Versace Hotel, Dubai Nikki Beach, and Rove Hotels.

2020 and 2023, he collaborated with several museums and art institutions in the region to document their collections. His work included Louvre Abu Dhabi, Etihad Museum in Dubai, Mohammed Bin Rashid Library’s collection, Saruq Al Hadid Museum, and the Arab Heritage Museum in Sharjah, along with projects for prominent art and antique collectors. This extensive experience provided him with profound expertise in archiving and digitizing cultural and artistic heritage, leading him to develop advanced digital preservation techniques.
